Martine fut pour moi dès ma prise de fonction de Chef du Service Economique à l'Ambassade de France à La Haye une interlocutrice de premier plan. Son intelligence, sa finesse de jugement, sa pertinence d'analyse étaient exceptionnels et, en tant que membre de la section Pays-Bas des Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France, Martine Valeix a contribué de manière déterminante à la relation économique franco-néerlandaise.
Devenue une amie, j'ai apprécié ses grandes qualités humaines, sa disponibilité, son optimisme tenace et sa volonté inaltérable de lutter.
La communauté d'affaires française aux Pays-Bas perd une de ses représentantes éminentes et l'émotion partagée par tous est grande.
Nous la regrettons déjà beaucoup.

Chere Martine,

I will remeber you as I fine Grande Dame with a lovely sense of humour, sensitive to other peoples needs and as a professional who brought all the above qualities and more to our meetings and managed to infect us with those fine qualities.
The last battle you had to fight was sadly lost but I will have fond memories of you and will treasure them forever. May you find the rest you deserve.

ik herinner mij een begrafenis van een collega, ca 2 jaar geleden. Ik bespeurde jouw teneer slagenheid vanwege het verlies van een collega die op veel te jonge leeftijd was heengegaan. Het tekende je, dat ondanks je drukke werkzaamheden, je altijd oprechte interesse toonde voor het wel en wee van de mensen om je heen.
Zo zal ik mij jou blijven herinneren.

We in NAM are shocked by the news of Martine's decease. Over the years we came to know Martine as positive person and a valued colleague - she will be sadly missed. We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Martine's family in dealing with their sad loss.

First of all I wish you peace
I will remember you for a very long time, shortly after your inauguration as General Manager of TEPNL we met and immediately we had a good professional feeling for each other, I regret very much that shortly after as from 2-9-2009 I dropped out as of the consequences of a stroke but we have met several times after during staff meetings and at my farewell diner. I have seen you growing into your role as leader of TEPNL and I was impressed how well you were doing
I wanted so much to work with you, unfortunately this wish has not been granted you dropped out after my farewell diner, you must have had a hard time
I can only hope that the letters I wrote to you may have been a little help i n withstanding the Burdon upon you caused by a decease for which mankind is searching very hard to cure or control it unfortunately you havebecome a victim of it before we were able to fight it with success you will live-on in my mind with the as an unfulfilled wish to know you better That is where it ends now rest in peace Martine

Je me souviens des crises de fou-rires, lors de ta fête de départ de Norvège, à la maison : tu étais la seule déguisée en punk car je t’avais fait croire que c’était un concours de déguisement. Avant d’arriver à la soirée, malicieusement tu avais déchiré ton collant à coups d’ongles, en bonne perfectionniste que tu étais. Je me souviens des trajets en voiture lorsque nous revenions de Hua Hin à Bangkok et que nous chantions à tue-tête les refrains des contines de Franklin, en tapant dans nos mains pour la plus grande joie de mon fiston. Je t’ai toujours vue de bonne humeur, le sourire jusque dans les yeux. Même en juin dernier, alors que, déjà, tu n’allais pas bien.
R.I.P Martine, ce soir je vais trinquer pour cela. Tu nous manques déjà. Je pense très fort à toi.

Dear Martine, what an incredible and courageous fight you have put on since last year against this terrible disease. Although we were initially happy to hear that things appeared better in January this year, it was unfortunately not meant to be. I have deep respect for the strength with which you managed to carry on and the continued interest you showed in the challenges of TEPNL while you were battling with your disease. I would like to offer my sincere condolence to your nephew, niece and cousins and wish them all the strength to cope with the loss of their aunt. Au revoir, Mark
