        Dear Marcella and Luke

        My deepest condolences to you and Luke and the family. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Mano but the words spoken about him in all these messages are giving an image of a very warm, caring and loving man. You lost your best friend! I pray you find strength and beauty in the great memories and life experiences you had together and may you have hope for tomorrow. My thoughts are with you as you say farewell and celebrate the life of Mano.

        Lieve Marcella en Luke,

        Hartverscheurend, onbegrijpelijk en oneerlijk wat er is gebeurd. We kunnen ons er geen voorstelling van maken hoe verschrikkelijk het geweest is om Mano te moeten laten gaan. Ooit zal het een grote troost voor jullie zijn dat hij nu geen pijn en angst meer heeft. Hij weet jullie lieve Mars en Luke omringd door liefdevolle (groot)ouders, familieleden en vrienden.

        DROOM, DURF, DOE EN DEEL

        Die woorden van het liedje van Marco Borsato gaven jullie ons vorig jaar mee ter gelegenheid van ons gouden huwelijk. Helaas was jou, lieve Mano geen tijd gegund om al jouw dromen waar te maken.

        Rust zacht lieve Mano, het was een voorrecht je gekend te hebben.

        Beste Marcella, 
        Een keer heb ik de kans gehad om kennis te maken met jouw Mano en die lieve Luke. Dit was eerder dit jaar, toen jullie samen op Bali een mooie reis aan het maken waren. We zijn toen met een paar collega's naar een restaurantje om de hoek van kantoor geweest. Daar hebben jullie mooie herinneringen met ons gedeeld over de tijd op Bali. Het was geweldig om te horen hoezeer jullie genoten van deze trip. Ik was blij voor jullie dat jullie als gezin dit zo samen konden (her)beleven.  
        Het restaurant was lawaaiig en we we moesten lang op het eten wachten. Het viel me toen op hoe liefdevol en zorgzaam Mano voor jou en Luke was. Hij stelde Luke op zijn gemak en gaf jou alle gelegenheid om met je collega's bij te praten. Alles ging zo ontspannen. Mano was vrolijk en gezellig. Wat hebben jullie het met elkaar getroffen. 
        De werkelijkheid is nu erg rauw. En al kennen we elkaar niet lang, ik leef met je mee. Ik denk aan jou en jouw lieve Luke.

        Dearest Mano,
        I will forever cherish the small yet memorable times we have had, the most precious one being visiting you and Mars in Bali when you were expecting lil Luka and our endless breakfast discussions about everything under the sun in your beautiful garden. Never had I imagined that our last meeting in Amsterdam in 2016 would really be the last one during this life. I still remember the lasagna you made for dinner then and fondly remember how great of a partner and how wondeful of a dad you were always. Mars and I always dreamt of planning a trekking together with you in the himalayas of Nepal, but perhaps God had plans to take you in his arms sooner than that... It breaks my heart as I write these lines for you... I had been praying and praying all along for a miracle to happen.... As you set in your next journey, I want to thank you for the person you were and the love you shared with all of us. Although so far away from you and my bestie Mars, I have always in my heart felt very close to you both during all this time- and I have always felt the strength and glory of love you both share for one another- that I am certain will never ever end. Au revoir Mano !
