Dear Hans,
I am deeply saddened to hear about your sudden departure and we're still having difficulty processing this heartbreaking news.
I am forever grateful for your invaluable advice and immense support, especially during the inception of our Japan strategy back in 2016/2017 (hope you still remember those days). Your professional advice and expert insights were pivotal in shaping the success we have today. You were understanding, patient and accommodating to our Asian work culture, which leaves an indelible mark on those who know you professionally and personally. Not forgetting your sense of humour had a way of diffusing unique situations, leaving behind smiles and fostering healthy collaboration. You're a great man and a gentleman!
During this time of profound loss, my thoughts and prayers are with Marja and your family. Lifting them up
in prayers for peace, strength, comfort, healing in their hearts, and knowing you are watching over them from above.

Hans was just a great colleague and great person with such an incredible humor, open-mindedness, empathy and always behaved respectfully toward his fellow men.
I will miss you in the regular upcoming meetings we have and your first words and statements under “Words from the Management”.
My thoughts are with Hans’ wife and his family. I wish you strength and confidence in these very difficult times.

Het is niet te bevatten wat er is gebeurd, alles staat even stil. Een van onze Navteq dinosaurs heeft ons moeten verlaten.

We kennen elkaar uit de EGT tijd in Best, 30 jaar geleden. We deelden een passie; handbal. Jij speelde bij EMZ en ik bij Bevo, dat waren nou niet bepaald vriendjes van elkaar. Dus dat ging erop! Elkaar voor de gek houden maar altijd met een lach.

Je was iemand van grappen en grollen maar was ook serieus als het nodig was. Je kon kletsen over alles en als ik tijdens de lunchpauze dan eens vroeg naar je kinderen, vertelde je vol trots waar ze op dat moment me bezig waren.

Beste Marja en kinderen, wat een onbeschrijflijk gemis is dit voor jullie. Heel veel sterkte voor alle moeilijke momenten.

I am still shocked and cannot find any words. I had the pleasure to know Hans for the past 15 years when he hired me to join a company called NAVTEQ to embark for an exiting journey with a company called Nokia. He has been my boss for many years and probably the best I had, always helpful and supportive. Also Hans has been always a role model for me a healthy work-life balance. So sad that his life suddenly ended.

I enjoyed working closely with Hans during the early days at EGT and for many years at Navtech. He was full of enthusiastic energy, during work and during play. No one at Navtech could match his colorful clothing choices, not even close. I’ll miss his beaming smile.

It has been a pleasure and privilege to work with Hans during my time at HERE. I remember his warm welcome in the fall of 2018 when our team met in person near Boston. He was instrumental in building and executing key capabilities, and he cared deeply for the team. I have especially appreciated Hans' vast knowledge, respectful attitude and subtle sense of humor.
